Choosing your wedding photographer is a huge decision! These are the memories that you will have to look back on for years to come, and the pictures you will pass down to future generations. There are some important considerations to remember when making your choice!
1. Decide what your style is.
Do you like light and airy with a pop of color, or are you drawn more towards the darker, more romantic look? This is super important that you know what style you’re looking for before you book your photographer. My style is light and airy with a pop of color, so I wouldn’t be a good match for someone wanting a journalistic/moody look. Look over their websites and social media sites – what are you drawn to? Stick with your gut feeling.
2. Make sure you get along well!
Your wedding photographer is with you longer than anyone else is on the wedding day (including your fiancé!) Are they positive? Do they brighten your mood? Do they take the stress off of you? Make sure you enjoy being around this person! I highly recommend having a consultation before booking. If a bride or couple isn’t able to meet in person over a cup of coffee and chat all things wedding, then I at least like to schedule a phone call or Skype chat so we can make sure we will be the best fit for each other! Part of the ABP Wedding Experience is serving my couples from booking to even after the wedding day. Photography is personal and I love creating lasting friendships. If you’re looking for someone that is just going to shoot the wedding and call it a day who you will never hear from them again, I’m probably not the right fit 😊
3. Ask people in your circle for recommendations!

Bridesmaids are there for your wedding day but they’re also a great resource for planning! Ask your besties about their wedding photographers! Check out more from Carla + Cameron’s wedding day!
Did your friend have an amazing wedding photographer and loved the experience? Did their photographer make them feel comfortable in front of the camera? Word of mouth referrals from like-minded friends are worth a lot! Getting an honest review from someone you like, know, and trust can be super helpful.
4. Make sure they offer what you’re looking for.
Consider hours of coverage, digital images, products, etc. The ABP Wedding Experience includes 8 hours of coverage, a complimentary engagement session, and the edited digital images with print rights. The package is all-inclusive, and you can choose to purchase professional prints, canvases, and albums only if you should choose to. I do offer add ons, such as a second shooter and additional hours of coverage if you want it! When choosing your wedding photographer, make sure you love their work and it feels completely right! 😊
