Writing this post took a turn I wasn’t expecting. It had me all in my feelings and became much more than I intended. What was supposed to be a post just about what my workspace looks like just to show you that you truly can work anywhere, became the story about my brand + my why. Showing you my workspace just wouldn’t make sense without explaining some of the aspects that make this space so special to me.
My home office is a cozy little corner of the guest bedroom. It’s far from Pinterest-worthy but it’s practical in this season of life and just what I need. I need a clean space to be able to work with a clear head, so I keep this room neat + tidy as much as possible. Since this room doubles as a bedroom for guests, it’s mostly set up for just that purpose.
As I was trying to find the words to describe this space, I realized my house is much like my brand.
Bright + joyful (with a pop of color of course!) We picked light + soft paint colors throughout, but I’m drawn to cheerful pops of color to accent. While it doesn’t look like much to an outsider, my office space is filled with very special + meaningful things, which is why I decided to tell you everything so it makes sense!
My desk is small.
I’ve tried using other desks that are bigger and possibly more practical, but I always come back to this one so it’s here to stay. This was my Nana’s desk, and she was incredibly special to me, so it has a special place in my heart. She always had a smile on her face, even when she was going through super difficult trials. I must get that from her. She was one of the most sweet + kindhearted people on this earth, but didn’t let people walk all over her just because of her kindness. Reminds me so much of myself. Oh and stubborn…. me too 😉
This little wooden bookshelf has seen better days. It’s nothing special, but it was mine as a little girl and I’ve always just hung on to it. It now has a new purpose. From kid books to life + business books, thank you cards, and business documents!
This old picture of my Nana + Papa.
It’s always been one of my favorites. My love for pictures stems back to when I could barely talk. My Nana kept her photo albums in the living room, and I would always pull them out and look through them with her. As I flipped through the pages, I would ask questions. I’m sure I asked the same question a billion times, but she never got tired of answering. They dated back to when Nana + Papa were newlyweds + Papa was in the Army. Then there would be pictures of my dad growing up. Tons of cousins, aunts, uncles, and she would always tell me about them. One of my fondest memories was flipping through those pictures with her. It’s no wonder I wanted to become a photographer as my career. 😊
I grew up inspired by the businesses my dad and Nana + Papa grew, and I loved watching them find joy through serving their customers. They owned a local paint store here in Tallahassee for many years. When I got married, I chose not to change my business name from my maiden name. I started this business as Amber Brogdon, so I kept it just that. It’s my way of carrying my family’s spirit of business ownership into a new industry- this one with a little more pink + a lot more sweet love stories! Customer service, loving people, and the heart behind my business runs deep in my blood.
xoxo,
Amber
