I remember being in your shoes. You’re newly engaged, so excited to begin the wedding planning process, but find yourself just a bit overwhelmed with all of the decisions to make! What season should you get married in? You need to still choose your venue, photographer, DJ, florist, caterer, baker, makeup and hair artists, etc!
I work alongside so many fabulous vendors and wanted to showcase a couple amazing vendors I enjoy working with! Vendor Spotlight is a mini series that will have a new post each month. For the next feature in the series, I’m featuring A Country Rose, a wonderful florist in Tallahassee, Florida!
I interviewed the owner of a Country Rose, Annette McGuffey, to help brides with this aspect of wedding planning!
When should I start looking for a florist for my wedding?
Depending on the time of year and the size of your wedding I recommend to meet with a florist 6 months prior to the wedding date. We do book weddings up to a year in advance, this is usually a March or October wedding. It is best to have your venue and your colors decided before you actually meet with your florist. If you have a florist that you must have ask about a deposit for saving your date. Most florist will meet with couples with in a month of their wedding if they have the availability.
What should I look for in a wedding florists?
I recommend you visit the websites of florists near you. Check out some of the weddings they have created flowers for. Also their Facebook and Instagram pages are a great way to view their designs and styles. Read reviews on google and wedding websites like Wedding Wire. Ask your friends too. I always recommend you use a professional. Someone who has the experience and reputation to deliver what you are looking for. Someone who cares and you connect with makes a big difference in the process as a whole.
How do I determine my floral budget?
This is a good question and one that all depends on what your pocketbook will allow. The budget minded bride will usually spend about $1500 to $2000 on her flowers. The extravagant bride may spend $5000 and beyond.
Here are some average prices to help with the budget.
Brides Bouquet $225
Bridesmaids bouquet $85
Boutonnieres $20
Corsages $40
Ceremony $500
Reception floral centerpieces $85 each table
These are average prices and can vary either way.
Thank you Annette McGuffey with A Country Rose for these helpful floral tips!
