Newly engaged, Chad and I knew one of the first and biggest steps was to choose a wedding venue.
Which can be one of the most intimidating and daunting tasks! Once you have your venue booked, you can select your date (those usually go hand in hand, but you have to make sure the venue you select has your date available) and then plan all the fun and exciting details that really make your wedding unique to YOU!
We’ve always loved the beach and it’s a special place for us, so we knew we wanted to get married on the water. We selected a beautiful resort in Watercolor, Florida that fit our vision and the atmosphere we wanted. It’s a great idea to make a list of venues you’d like to visit and go on tours!
Keep in mind the look you’re wanting to achieve, your guests, and what makes you and your fiancé happy.
Ask yourself practical questions, such as:
- Is this venue within my budget? Be reasonable, and remember there are additional costs beyond just the venue, so keep those in mind!
- Is there enough room to host your guests comfortably?
- Is it handicapped accessible for those that may need it?
- Does this venue have a backup plan or an indoor option in case of rain?
Beyond practicality, think deeper!
What kind of feeling do you get when you enter?
Does it fit the atmosphere you’re longing for?
Consider the outdoor space for portrait backdrops! A venue with a variety of beautiful outdoor backdrops is a huge benefit to you and your photographer. How do the venue owners/coordinators treat you and make you feel? You’ll be working with them as a vendor, you want to make sure you have a good relationship and that you are both on the same page with expectations and you read over the contract carefully.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with beautiful, incredible venues in Tallahassee and beyond. I’m always happy to recommend some of my favorites, and be sure to look at the blog for images at these locations!
I hope this is helpful as you start your planning!
xoxo, Amber
